Impactful Philanthropy

An incubation program for people serious about improving the effectiveness of philanthropy.

Program Dates: June - July, 2026

Why Impactful Philanthropy?

Philanthropy moves vast sums of capital each year — in the United States alone, nearly $600 billion in charitable giving was recorded in 2024, and global private giving exceeds $1 trillion annually.

Yet only a fraction of that capital is guided by evidence-based, effectiveness-focused decision-making.

We see several high-leverage opportunities in the philanthropic space that we expect will create an outsized impact. We are looking for people to unlock these opportunities.

For people serious about doing philanthropy well.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for individuals who:

  • Are motivated by impact, evidence, and careful reasoning, rather than prestige or surface-level metrics

  • Are comfortable engaging with complexity, uncertainty, and difficult tradeoffs in how resources are allocated

  • Are interested in building something from scratch that could meaningfully improve how philanthropy is practiced

We are especially excited about people who fit one or more of the following profiles:

  • Have experience advising, supporting, or working with high-net-worth individuals or institutions on philanthropic strategy, giving, or impact

  • Have experience in talent recruitment and/or headhunting

  • Have experience in organising or hosting events

  • Have experience with giving financial advice

  • Have experience as a grantmaker

  • Have done research at organisations focused on maximising social impact through evidence and careful reasoning (e.g. skills in impact evaluation, cost-effectiveness, or cause prioritisation)

  • Who have been fund managers of philanthropic funds

  • People with experience in charity evaluation

  • Have hot takes on gaps in the effective philanthropic ecosystem

  • Have experience giving tax and legal advice to donors

  • Have tech or UX backgrounds with specific ideas for ways in which we can deploy tech to make the philanthropic ecosystem more effective

  • People who have headed donor engagement at large charitable organisations

We do not expect candidates to have most or many of the above criteria.

If you satisfy one or just a few, and are intrigued by the idea of creating an outsize impact by founding a new philanthropic organisation, please let us know by filling out the expression of interest form!

Ideas we are looking into

We’re currently working with a number of partners to explore a variety of opportunities, these include:

  • Evaluators, grant, funds. Setting up new funds, grantmakers or evaluators for cause areas that are currently neglected in the effective philanthropy space. We’re currently mapping out this space. Examples might include a fund for effective interventions in education or women’s health.

  • Event organisation. We’ve found that well-organised events can be strongly catalytic in increasing funding for high-impact charities, but have seen very few orgs specialising in this.

  • Talent Recruitment. Improving the ability of the philanthropic space to recruit great talent.

  • Effective Giving organisations. We think there is space for some specialised, effective giving organisations. For example, one of the ideas we’re evaluating is an organisation similar to “Giving What We Can” but specialising in legacy giving.

  • HNWI Advising. We think there are several gaps in the HNWI advisory space and would be keen to speak to people with experience in financial or philanthropic advising.

We’re happy to speak with candidates about specific opportunities where we believe they have a comparative advantage in launching and share our underlying research as it becomes available. We are open to people bringing their own ideas.

Know someone who might be an exceptional fit?

We expect many of the strongest candidates for this round to come through personal referrals. If someone in your network fits the profile particularly well, we’d appreciate you sharing this opportunity with them.
