Canopie is a scalable and cost-effective digital program to prevent and treat perinatal mood disorders.

CURRENT OR PREDICTED IMPACT:

  • Working to secure relationships with healthcare organizations in the US and the UK, which would allow Canopie to become accessible to millions of new mums per year

  • Pilot with a large health plan in the US to provide Canopie as a preventative tool for postpartum depression

  • Pilot with NHS in the UK to see how it can be integrated into the healthcare system and given to all pregnant and new mothers

COST-EFFECTIVENESS:

  • Once scaled, Canopie would cost $1.06 per mother reached, $42.43 per mother protected from depression, and $222 per DALY averted

SIGNIFICANT UPDATES:

  • From April to May 2021, Canopie conducted a randomized controlled trial which showed that 79.3% of participants with possible depression who underwent their program had a positive change in their mood (June 2021).

  • With the support of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), Canopie launched their beta app with 400 pediatricians and providers across 7 U.S. states (April 2021). The AAP now recommends Canopie as an intervention that doctors can recommend to mothers when screening them for postpartum depression.

  • Launched a secure platform (HIPAA compliant) that delivers personalized care to populations at scale.
