Building healthcare capacity to enable mothers to provide “Kangaroo Care”, an exceptionally simple and scientifically proven treatment to avert newborn deaths

IMPACT:

Ansh saved over 100 lives in its first year of operations in 2024, and over 400 lives in 2025
GiveWell estimates Ansh averts 1 neonatal death for c.$2500

COST-EFFECTIVENESS:

GiveWell estimates 13x as cost-effective as GiveWell’s benchmark (based on the updated cash transfers benchmark) or conservatively with an estimated range of 6x to 19x
GiveWell estimates 1 neonatal death averted for around $2,500 as their best guess
GiveWell estimates $85 per vulnerable infant treated based on Ansh’s budget

ACHIEVEMENTS:

Ansh has secured knowledge partnerships with two research organizations in Uttar Pradesh, including the GiveWell-funded research institute of compassionate economics (r.i.c.e.).

ROOM FOR MORE FUNDING:

Ansh is currently not looking for more funding as they have secured the budget for their scaleup in 2025 and 2026.
